Advanced level hands-on expertise in functional Automation, web services testing, test drivers and harnesses, etc is a must.
Conceptual understanding of DB testing, Performance testing, and other
Non-manual testing is a must. Must be able and willing to build hands on
expertise in these areas too.
Must be able and willing to learn new technologies, and create PoCs as required by the organization.
Should be a hands on leader - will need to review test automation
code, design, and solutions created by others as well as create these
afresh.
Sound technical aptitude with expertise in programming, DB and other software engineering concepts.
Good communication skills - should be able to present solutions and
ideas to clients and other stakeholders in an articulate manner.
Should have a good understanding of software testing paradigm.
Ability to do estimations for automation projects.
Must always keep up-to-date with the latest in test automation space.
A well rounded person with an ability to be flexible on evaluating technologies (Java/.net etc) is absolutely essential
